C-Care IHK, a distinguished medical institution renowned for its commitment to healthcare innovation, has today announced its accreditation from the American Health and Safety Institute, a non-profit organization that offers training skills for first responders on the appropriate first aid response and actions.

The endorsement was announced by Dr. Miriam Mutero Musinga the General Manager, C-Care IHK Hospital.

Dr. Musinga said, “We are excited to join hands with the American Health and Safety Institute to expand our first aid response services as an accredited training center for Basic Life and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training here at C Care IHK Hospital.”

She added, “Our goal is to increase awareness and accessibility of necessary skills ensuring that more individuals are prepared to handle emergencies confidently and effectively.”

During the ceremony, 30 boda boda cyclists and house managers were awarded certificates, following a comprehensive safety skills training program on how to handle basic medical emergencies effectively. The two-day program, took place at the C Care IHK Hospital in Kampala, from the 22nd to 23rd, May 2024 where the participants were trained in First aid skills.

Dr. Peter Kavuma, Head of A&E and HIS Training Centre Director appreciated the efforts of all that attended and encouraged more people especially the clinical people to take part in these trainings so as to manage medical emergencies with ease.

He said, “I thank each and every one here that took off time in their schedules to attend this basic life skills training that can enables you as a first responder to save a life. I encourage all the people out there that usually come first at accident scenes to take part in this training so as to enable quality saving of lives.”

Mr. Opus Justin, the Deputy Traffic Commander, Kampala Metropolitan, who was the Guest of Honor congratulated those that participated and encouraged them to go out there and also share their knowledge with others. He also appreciated the work that C-Care IHK are doing to see that the country has first responders that are knowledgeable and know what to do when faced with a calamity.

Opus said, “I appreciate all participants for taking a step to train and be able to acquire this basic life skills training. Thank you too, to C-Care IHK for all the effort you put in to see that these skills get to the people that are usually first responders to victims of accidents.”

During the certificate awarding ceremony, one of the beneficiaries, Caroline Lotud, expressed gratitude to C-Care for the invaluable opportunity. “I thank C-Care for equipping us with life-saving skills, enhancing safety, and making a positive impact in our workplaces. I am certain that this training will prove invaluable in our lives,” she remarked.

This is the second cohort of the training. The first one was held last year in which teachers and Uganda Police officers participated in a similar training. This training is conducted as part of C-Care Uganda’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, through which they support communities bring positive change to people.
