C-Care IMC Uganda today held its annual Operational Excellence Awards to celebrate the outstanding achievements of clinics across the C-Care IMC network. This prestigious award program highlighted the exemplary efforts of seven facilities that have successfully implemented operational excellence programs, strategies, processes, systems, and tools to enhance the standardization of patient experience.
The event, held at the Kampala Serena Hotel, was presided over by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine. She applauded C-Care IMC for organizing events that recognize outstanding performance among health practitioners in Uganda.
C-Care IMC serves over 450,000 patients annually through a network of 20 clinics, including 5 admission facilities across Uganda, and employs over 300 health professionals. The Excellence Awards are part of C-Care IMC’s ongoing commitment to providing superior healthcare services, with a focus on innovation, efficiency, and patient-centered care.
Andrew Mugalu, General Manager of C-Care IMC, stated, “Operational excellence is at the heart of everything we do. It is about more than just efficiency; it is about ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care. It involves quickly resolving patient issues, maintaining clean and safe facilities, and serving our clients with speed and compassion. It’s about making sure our clinics are easily accessible and that every touchpoint in the patient journey is seamless and positive.”
In addition to the awards, C-Care IMC engaged the world-leading audit firm KPMG to conduct a comprehensive and objective audit of all facilities across the network. KPMG’s meticulous review involved assessing the operational excellence initiatives and providing a detailed report on performance. Their audit not only validated the results but also highlighted key areas for improvement, ensuring that the awards were based on rigorous and impartial evaluation.
The awards covered various categories including Service Excellence, Facility Operations, Human Resources, Pharmacy, Nursing Protocols, Branding, and Financial Performance. These categories reflect the diverse aspects of our operational excellence framework, each playing a fundamental role in ensuring a consistent and positive patient experience.
Azhar Sundhoo, CEO of C-Care Uganda, explained that the awards aim to not only recognize individual and team achievements but also to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. “As we celebrate these achievements, let us remember that our journey does not end here. The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and we must continue to innovate, adapt, and improve. Let us take inspiration from tonight’s celebrations and channel it into further enhancing our services, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of healthcare excellence in Uganda,” he said.
C-Care’s sensitization efforts about the importance of operational excellence in healthcare began in January this year. This initiative aims to reinforce the values of excellence and innovation throughout our network, encouraging all staff to strive for the highest standards in healthcare delivery at all patient touchpoints.
One of the notable achievements of the entire operational excellence process was the successful implementation of a comprehensive patient feedback system across all C-Care IMC facilities. This system, which includes real-time pulse surveys and automated feedback collection, has significantly improved our ability to monitor patient satisfaction, address concerns promptly, and enhance the overall quality of care. This initiative has led to more efficient resolution of patient issues, improved service delivery, and a higher standard of patient experience across the network.
“C-Care IMC Uganda remains committed to its mission to deliver the most caring medical expertise, always putting our patients first. The Excellence Awards program underscores our dedication to continuous improvement and sets a benchmark for healthcare excellence in the region,” Mugalu concluded.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Diana Atwine, commended C-Care Uganda for the awards, observing, “While we recognize the outstanding work in service, facility operations, and patient care, we are reminded that our collective efforts can significantly enhance the healthcare landscape in Uganda. Congratulations to all the award recipients and the entire C-Care team for their dedication to improving the lives of countless individuals in our communities.”
