UCAA Announces New Parking Fees at Entebbe Airport

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has unveiled new parking fees at Entebbe International Airport, set to take effect from November 1, 2024. This marks the first adjustment in 15 years, with the last revision in 2009. The hike is aimed at aligning parking fees with the growing operational costs required to upgrade the airport’s facilities and enhance the passenger experience.

According to UCAA, saloon cars will now be charged UGX 5,000 for the first hour, up from UGX 2,000. Vans and minibuses will see a new rate of UGX 8,000, compared to the previous UGX 4,000. Lorries, trailers, and buses will face an increase to UGX 10,000 for the first hour, up from UGX 5,000. Long-term parking fees will also rise, with the first day’s charge set at UGX 30,000, a notable increase from UGX 10,000. Each additional hour will cost UGX 1,000 for all vehicle types.

For vehicles parked long-term, the first day’s fee will be UGX 30,000, while each subsequent day remains at UGX 10,000. Vehicles parked for over 30 days will be subject to a steep daily charge of UGX 200,000, aimed at discouraging extended stays.

UCAA has also introduced seasonal parking cards for long-term users, with rates varying for residents and non-residents depending on the vehicle type. For instance, residents with saloon cars will pay UGX 60,000 per month, while non-residents will pay UGX 120,000. Monthly rates for lorries and trucks range from UGX 120,000 to UGX 240,000, depending on residency status.

Vianney Luggya, UCAA’s spokesperson, stated that these fee adjustments are part of a broader initiative to improve services and meet the increasing demands at Entebbe International Airport. Frequent users are encouraged to review the updated seasonal parking rates on UCAA’s website or social media platforms to avoid any inconvenience.
