Former Uganda Ambassador to Egypt, Louis Richard Angualia has died in a motorcycle accident near Abi Farm in Ayivu East Constituency, Arua City.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when Angualia, riding a Bajaj motorcycle, collided head-on with another motorcycle. He died instantly at the scene.
Angualia was a well-known political figure in the West Nile region with a long history of electoral participation. He first sought public office in 2011, contesting the Maracha County parliamentary seat but lost to Alex Onzima Adroa.
After Maracha District was divided into two constituencies in 2016 Maracha and Maracha East, he vied for the Maracha Constituency MP seat but was defeated by Hon. Oguzu Lee Denis in the general elections that year.
Undeterred, Angualia shifted his focus to Maracha East Constituency, where he contested the NRM primaries in September 2020.
His sudden death has come as a shock to both the political and diplomatic communities, with many mourning the loss of a committed public servant and leader.
Details regarding funeral arrangements and tributes will be released in the coming days.
