Toro Kingdom to Celebrate King Oyo’s 30th Coronation with Grand Cultural Festival

The Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival returns this September with grandeur and cultural pride, marking 30 years since the coronation of His Majesty King Oyo of the Toro Kingdom. From September 10th to 13th, 2025, the historic Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal will transform into a vibrant hub of tradition, celebration, and community spirit.

More than a royal ceremony, the festival is King Oyo’s invitation to his people to reflect on their shared history while embracing their cultural identity. Guests will enjoy an immersive line-up featuring traditional music, energetic dance performances, cultural exhibitions, and a showcase of Toro’s unique culinary flavors.

The celebration also pays tribute to King Oyo’s progressive leadership. Known for blending tradition with modernity, he has used his global perspective to champion local initiatives—especially in agriculture. His model farm in Kyenjojo demonstrates innovation with dairy, mango, coffee, and fish farming, while his support for farmers through tools like tractors and irrigation systems continues to uplift livelihoods across the kingdom.

Even with his international exposure, King Oyo remains deeply committed to preserving Toro’s heritage, ensuring its customs, arts, and values are passed on to future generations.

This year’s festival is made possible by an impressive coalition of partners including the Uganda Tourism Board, Pilsner Lager, Talent Africa, Plascon, Movit, and the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. The Uganda Wildlife Authority’s involvement also underscores Toro’s natural wealth, while support from brands like Branny Nails Kampala and MSC reflects the broad national enthusiasm for this milestone event.

The Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival stands as a powerful reminder of how culture, unity, and collaboration can converge to create an unforgettable moment in Uganda’s history. It promises to be more than a festival—it’s a royal cultural explosion not to be missed.
