Grief and Anger as Cancer Patient Carol Atuhirwe Dies

Cancer Patient Carol Atuhirwe who won sympathy from and United Ugandans in 2016 has passed on.

Atuhirwe succumbed to cancer on Thursday night in India where he had travelled for treatment.

In 2016, Atuhaire brought Ugandans together in a fundraising campaign dubbed #SaveCarol where people from different divides joined hands to raise funds for her surgery.

She needed Shs270 million for the specialised surgery all of which was raised in charity events although the Ministry delayed to issue her travel documents for the surgery.

She was first taken to Nairobi for some treatment as the Ministry processed the documents, an action that angered many whose prayers were that the young lady beats cancer.

Atuhirwe would later be transferred to India where she has spent months on treatment before she breathed her last.

She will be remembered for donating the excess money collected (Shs 54million) to the Uganda cancer institute.

Preparations are underway to have her body flown to Uganda for burial.

May her soul rest in peace.
