BUL FC Sack Head Coach Abbey Kikomeko After Five Straight Defeats

BUL FC have announced the departure of head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko following a string of poor results in the ongoing league season.

In a statement released on Tuesday, CEO Joseph Mutaka said the decision came after a thorough review of the team’s performance, which failed to meet the club’s technical and competitive standards.

The move follows BUL’s 3-1 loss to Police FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, marking the club’s fifth consecutive defeat, after losses to Vipers SC, KCCA FC, Entebbe UPDF, and Kitara FC. The string of poor results has left BUL 12th on the league table with 10 points.

Kikomeko, who was appointed head coach in June 2023, had signed a two-year contract extension in July 2025 intended to keep him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

BUL also confirmed that his entire backroom staff, including assistant coach Simeone Masaba, have been suspended. In the interim, junior team coaches Daniel Kabaale, Michael Ssebagala, Kenneth Magada, and Fred Batwala will take charge of the first team as management seeks a permanent replacement.

Former BUL head coach Alex Isabirye has emerged as a leading candidate to return to the club. Isabirye, who left BUL in March 2023 for Vipers SC — winning a league and Uganda Cup double — was recently relieved of his duties at URA FC.

The club now faces the task of stabilising results as it looks to recover from its slump and improve its league standing.
