Inspire Africa Delivers Shs50M Coffee Marathon Proceeds to Empower Bugisu Women Farmers

Inspire Africa, via its Coffee Marathon program, has honored its commitment to supporting rural women coffee farmers in the Bugisu sub-region by distributing the funds collected from the 2025 Coffee Marathon.

During a ceremony in Kapchorwa, Inspire Africa CEO Nelson Tugume presented a cheque worth UGX 50 million to Mt. Elgon Women in Specialty Coffee Ltd, comprising the earnings from the 2025 edition of the Coffee Marathon.

These resources will focus on advancing the well-being of female coffee producers, expanding their access to opportunities, and bolstering their role within the coffee supply chain.

This achievement delivers on a commitment announced ahead of the previous year’s marathon, which centered on aiding rural women in coffee farming.

Staying faithful to that pledge, Inspire Africa has converted purposeful athletic events into real-world benefits for the women central to Uganda’s coffee sector.

At the gathering, Nelson Tugume highlighted the organisation’s view that coffee represents far more than an agricultural product—it’s an agent of change: “The Coffee Marathon goes beyond being a competition. It serves as a broader initiative linking athletics, meaningful goals, and societal benefits. We take pride today in fulfilling our pledge and aligning with the Bugisu women who are the foundation of Uganda’s coffee industry.”

Delegates from Mt. Elgon Women in Specialty Coffee Ltd conveyed their appreciation for the assistance, stating that the money would immediately support women-driven coffee businesses, boost processing capabilities, and elevate family earnings throughout the area.

With preparations underway for the upcoming Coffee Marathon, Inspire Africa continues to emphasise its dedication to leveraging coffee as a driver of positive societal shifts—promoting environmental sustainability, gender equity, and economic growth in coffee-producing areas.

The Coffee Marathon persists in uniting participants, coffee enthusiasts, and collaborators to pursue a meaningful goal, turning each stride into opportunity for underserved rural populations.
