Swiss Coffee Traders Delegation Visits Uganda to Strengthen Value Chain Partnerships

A delegation of young professionals from Switzerland’s coffee trading sector is currently visiting Uganda from March 14 to March 21, 2026, to strengthen partnerships across the global coffee value chain and deepen understanding of the country’s coffee industry.

The group includes traders, sustainability specialists, finance professionals, and communications experts from leading companies such as Sucafina SA, Ecom Trading, UCC Europe, and Louis Dreyfus Company.

The visit is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Uganda to the Swiss Confederation and the Swiss Coffee Traders Association (SCTA).

Uganda, one of Africa’s leading coffee producers, is actively pursuing economic diplomacy to expand production, enhance value addition, and strengthen its position in both specialty and commercial coffee markets.

The delegation’s itinerary includes; Tours of coffee washing stations in the Mt Elgon region and Mubuku., Visits to plantations in eastern and western Uganda to observe cultivation, processing, export, and trade practices and Direct engagements with farmers, processors, exporters, and policymakers.

A key highlight is a scheduled meeting on March 20, 2026, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) in Kampala. Discussions will focus on Uganda’s national coffee strategy, sector priorities, sustainability initiatives, and ambitions for production growth.

The initiative promotes sustainable sourcing, responsible trade, and long-term partnerships. It builds on prior efforts, including Ugandan coffee promotions through barista demonstrations at tourism exhibitions in Bern and Zurich, Switzerland.

The delegation previously paid a courtesy visit to the Ugandan embassy in Geneva, where they were received by Ambassador Marcel Tibaleka.

This visit underscores growing Uganda-Swiss cooperation in the coffee sector, aligning with Uganda’s broader strategy to leverage economic diplomacy for market access and industry development in key global markets.
