President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called upon Ugandans to embrace a renewed sense of discipline, productivity, and commitment to national transformation, as he outlined key priorities for the new term during his inaugural address at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The President emphasised that the current term should be regarded as a “kisanja of no more sleep,” urging citizens to prioritise hard work and active participation in wealth creation initiatives aimed at accelerating socio-economic transformation across Uganda.

He noted that significant progress has been achieved under government programmes, including the Parish Development Model and Operation Wealth Creation, which have contributed to increasing the proportion of homesteads engaged in the money economy.

According to the President, approximately 67% of households are now participating in the money economy, while efforts are being intensified to integrate the remaining 33% into formal economic activity through inclusive development programmes.

He further reaffirmed government commitment to infrastructure development, regional integration, and expansion of markets through frameworks such as the East African Community and the African Continental Free Trade Area, as key drivers of sustainable growth.

President Museveni also underscored the importance of peace, stability, and unity, noting that Uganda’s progress since 1986 has been anchored on rejecting sectarianism and promoting national cohesion.

He thanked regional partners, including the Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Kenya, for their continued cooperation in advancing regional stability and economic integration.

The President reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring that every Ugandan benefits from development programmes, stressing that no citizen should be left behind in the journey towards prosperity.
