NRM Claims Opposition is Planning Chaos in Kyadondo East By-election

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party says the opposition is planning to cause chaos in Thursday’s by-election in Kyadondo East.

The by-election is a hot-contest among three candidates – NRM’s William Sebalu Sitenda, independent candidate singer Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)’s Apollo Kantinti – of the five candidates in the race.

There have been scuffles among the candidates’ supporters but now the NRM claims the opposition candidates are scheming grand chaotic scenes aimed at tarnishing their candidate and party.

NRM secretariat publicist Rogers Mulindwa said in a statement that the opposition were planning to hire gangs wearing NRM T-shirts to cause chaos with an aim of winning “sympathy from the voters”.

“The opposition plans to use the same mission to scare away voters especially in NRM dominated parishes. Our party members and the entire public is therefore warned against these groups. Please note that donning NRM yellow attires is not necessarily an assurance that one is a party member,” Mulindwa said.
