FDC’s Apollo Kantinti Won’t Be Voting Himself in Kyadondo By-election

Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Apollo Kantinti will not be voting in the Kyadondo East by-election that are underway in the nine parishes.

Kantinti is not a registered voter in the constituency but this does not bar him from contesting, according to electoral laws.

The FDC bigwig who was thrown out of Parliament over electoral malpractice is registered as a Mukono Municipality voter.

He reportedly missed the Electoral Commission’s voter register update and display exercises that would have granted him a chance to become a Kyadondo East voter.

Already, candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Singer Bobi Wine), cast his ballot.

Five candidates are contesting in the by-election, including ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate William Sitenda Sebalu and independent candidates Muwada Nkunyingi and Sowedi Kayongo Male.

Voting started as early as 7am, albeit with some delays, and will end at 4pm.

Some 72,818 voters are expected to decide on the five candidates.
