Bobi Wine Wins Kyadondo East By-election With Landslide Victory

Popular Ugandan musician and activist, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine has been declared winner of the Thursday by-election in Kyadondo East Constituency in a landslide victory.

The Kyadondo East returning officer, Francis Nkurunziza declared Independent Candidate Bobi Wine winner with 26659 votes (an equivalent of 77.7% of the total votes) after the tallying of votes from all the nine parishes in Kyadondo East which ended at around 9:30PM.

NRM’s Sitenda Ssebalu came second with 4556 and FDC’s Apollo Kantinti came third with 1832 votes. Candidates Nkunyingi Muwadda and Sowedi Kayongo got 575 and 377 votes respectively.

Bobi Wine contested for the seat which fell vacant after Court of Appeal threw out Forum for Democratic (FDC) Party’s Apollo Kantinti on grounds that the Electoral Commission did not comply with electoral rules.

Now Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the Fire Base Entertainment singer, will be representing Kyadondo East in Parliament for the next four years until the 2021 General Elections.
