Kyadondo East MP and singer Hon. Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert better known by his stage name Bobi Wine, on Tuesday travelled to Kalungu District to campaign for Emmanuel Musoke who is the Democratic Party (DP) flag bearer in the Kalungu LC5 Chairperson by-election. The voting is due on Thursday, 31st August 2017.
Bobi Wine joined Kalungu West MP Joseph Sewungu among other leaders to address a mammoth crowd of supporters that had gathered for Musoke’s rally at Masaba grounds Bukulula.
“I share the same values of equal rights and justice with Mr. Musoke and we both believe in People Power,” said Bobi Wine.
Mr Musoke who is the former chairperson of Kalungu District contested for re-election and lost by 339 votes to his NRM rival, Mr Richard Kyabaggu.
He rejected the results and petitioned the High Court accusing the Electoral Commission of fabricating results Declaration Forms from some polling stations to deny him victory.
He requested in his petition that court nullifies the victory of NRM’s Kyabaggu and declare him the duly elected district chairman.
Although the Masaka High Court Justice Lawrence Gidudu concurred with Mr Musoke last year, he did not declare him winner saying the authenticity of the Declaration Forms on which court would have based to declare him as winner were not certified by the EC.
In May this year, Court of Appeal judges also upheld the decision of Justice Gidudu, declaring the post vacant and ordered a by-election.
At yesterday’s rally, Bobi Wine called on the residents of Kalungu District to cast their ballots in favor of Musoke in Thurday’s by-election.
