Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and South Sudan First Vice President Taban Deng Gai on Tuesday held a meeting at at Kityerela Presidential Farm in Mayuge District.
A statement the president issued on his social media pages read in part: “We held a long discussion on shared areas of transport, electricity and also the subject of peace in South Sudan. I call upon all people of South Sudan to refrain from violence. The only politically viable way is peace and dialogue to achieve development.”
About a week ago, Museveni also met a section of South Sudan former political detainees, including fallen freedom fighter Dr John Garang’s Widow Rebecca Nyandeng.
Museveni would later reveal that he and the Rebecca Garang-led delegation had discussed ways of uniting various political groups in South Sudan, the world’s youngest nation.
