Makerere University is one of the institutions which have failed to fully utilise its FY 2016-17 budgetary allocations.
According to a report by the Education Committee of parliament, the education ministry has failed to spend Shs 85.1bn.
In the same financial year, Makerere failed to use Shs 12.56bn while Kabale University failed to spend Shs 2.59 bn.
According to Jacob Opolot, the Education Committee’s Vice Chairperson, delayed procurement, slow pace of works and low absorption capacity have led to failure to fully utilise funds.
