The Police Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) has issued summons for city tycoons Godfrey Kirumira and SK Mbuga, The Tower Post has learnt.
Local radio station Capital FM reported on Monday morning that the self-styled tycoons were required to appear at CID headquarters in Kibuli.
Although the cases preferred against the two money bags haven’t been established yet, reliable sources have indicated that they are connected to the burial of the late Ivan Semwanga.
Semwanga was buried on Tuesday May 30th at his ancestral home in Kayunga.
During his burial, tycoons under their umbrella body Rich Gang splashed large sums of money which were buried with the late.
They would later deploy police to guard the grave.
The issue has been a matter of discussion lately, with a number of people calling for prosecution of the self-styled tycoons.
Other whistleblowers have claimed that the bills thrown into Semwanga’s grave were counterfeit, calling for an investigation into the matter.
Asked about the development, Police spokesperson Asan Kasingye denied any knowledge referring us to Vincent Ssekatte, who he said is the PRO for the CID.
Efforts to reach Ssekatte were futile as all his known numbers were off.
