Democratic Party (DP) in the Kyadondo East Contituency Member of Parliament by-elections, Lilian Babirye Kamome has withdrawn from the race.

While speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, DP Party President Nobert Mao, the party withdrew their candidate from the race because there was need to join efforts as opposition to retain the seat.

According to Mao, the party asked Kamome to withdraw from the race after consulting party leaders and the candidate herself, something she agreed to.

In a related development, barely 24 hours after her withdraw from the by-elections, Kamome endorsed FDC’s candidate Apollo Kantinti.

According to Kamome, she would go for Kantinti as an individual because she doesn’t see leadership in singer, Bobi Wine, who is vying for the seat as an Independent Candidate.

The Kyadondo East by-elections in Wakiso District will be held on June 26 2017.
