The attorney general and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Uganda Limited have been sued for reportedly using land belonging to former second deputy prime minister Henry Muganwa Kajura and failing to compensate him.
Kajura has filed an application seeking intervention from the Commercial Court.
He wants Court to order government and Cnooc to pay him a whooping Shs 3.bn for his piece of land on Plot 85; Block 3, at Bahanguzi in Kyangwali in Masindi district which he claims was used for road construction.
According to Kajura, the land in question was assessed for compensation by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
The assessment put the land’s value at Shs 3.5bn but the ex-minister said he is yet to receive compensation, causing him mental anguish, pain and inconvenience.
The two respondents, the Attorney General and CNOOC, now have 15 days to file their defense.
