Drama ensued at City Hall in Kampala after councillors exchanged blows over a stalemate between minister Beti Kamya and lord mayor Lukwago.
The disagreement relate to allow proposed by minister Kamya reportedly with the aim of clipping Lukwago’s powers to make the office of the lord mayor ceremonial.
The latest contention between Lukwago and Kamya relates to the latter’s handling of transport and land issues in the city.
Today, after council meeting was suspended, KCCA division and authority councillors accused each other of betrayal and turned the argument physical, trading punches.
They were later restrained by police officers.
Division councillors accuse authority councillors of incompetence.
On the other hand, authority councillors accuse division councillors of reportedly accepting bribes from the ministers to frustrate Lukwago.
