Thousands of supporters gathered at Gayaza on Tuesday afternoon (June 27th) to attend Kyadondo East MP Aspirant and singer, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine’s final campaign rally ahead of the constituency’s by-election slated for this Thursday, June 29th.
Bobi Wine was earlier on Tuesday morning arrested and held at Kira Division Police Headquarters after he refused to follow police orders instructing him to abandon the campaign rally that was meant to be held at Kasangati Saza Grounds.
He was later released and ordered to choose another venue for his rally, hence moving it to Gayaza.
The singer’s arrest led to the growth in numbers of his supporters, who gathered at Gayaza for his final rally.
At the rally, the singer was accompanied by his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi Itungo and fellow musicians like singer Big Eye Starboss among others who entertained supporters and called on them to vote Bobi Wine.
Renowned Ugandan political and social commentator, Frank Gashumba was also present at the rally to show support for Bobi Wine.
While speaking to the crowd, Bobi Wine urged the people of Kyadondo to back him so that he represents their interests in parliament.
The huge crowd at the singer’s final rally in Gayanza convinced Ugandans that he will in all likelihood win the Thursday poll.
The “Bikwase Kyagulanyi” singer who is standing as an independent candidate, is facing Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Apollo Kantinti and NRM’s Sitenda Ssebalu among others.
