National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearer Richard Kyabaggu has been declared winner of Thursday’s Kalungu District LC5 Chairperson by-election beating his rival Emmanuel Musoke of the Democratic Party.
Kyabaggu was declared winner by Kalungu District Returning Officer Nantabo Leticia.
He garnered a total of 19,742 votes while DP’s Emmanuel Musoke got 18,851 votes.
Independent candidates Kintu Mathias and Luyombo David got 697 and 272 votes respectively.
Of the 40,025 total ballot papers that were counted, 39,562 were valid, 463 were rejected (invalid) while 53 ballot papers were spoilt.
