Age Limit Protests: Lukwago Arrested

Police in Kampala has arrested Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago from his home in Wakaliga, Rubaga Division.

The city head has been driven to a yet-to-be disclosed place.

The operation was led by Old Kampala police boss  Grace Nyangoma.

Lukwago had earlier been blocked from leaving his home.

He had told reporters earlier on Tuesday: “All this shows that Mr Museveni is scared of people power. We shall not allow him tinker with the constitution because it is our mandate as citizens to protect it. We must fight this impunity.”

Lukwago, Police said, was planning to engage in an anti-age limit lifting procession  with other opposition politicians with the aim of paralysing city business.

But Lukwago said he planned to attend a meeting of all opposition leaders to be convened by Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza.

He added that he also planned to travel to Buyende District for the burial of fallen v KCCA staff David Ntege.
