The annual Kampala City Festival kicked off on a high note with a charity concert That was headlined by Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz at the Kololo Independence Grounds on Friday night.
The concert was mainly attended by city corporates who occupied the VIP tent, and an average crowd of party goers.
The show kicked off at a few minutes to 9:00PM with energetic performances from the B2C singer and later singer Cindy Sanyu who wowed the crowd while singing on stage with her gorgeous dancers.
Singers Ykee Benda, Mun G, Geosteady, Sheebah Karungi, Irene ntale and Winnie Nwagi, among others would then take the stage and perform their hit songs; one after another.
During his performance, popular Ugandan lugaflow rapper, Gravity Omutujju thrilled the crowd as he sang his hit songs “Winner”, ” Bijanjalo and others. Gravity would pause in the middle of his performance and blast the organizers for bringing a foreign artiste to headline the event.
“Why bring an artiste that cannot fill this venue,” Gravity wondered.
While speaking at the Comcert, Kampala City Council Authority ED, Jennifer Musisi thanked the sponsors to their contribution towards the success of the show and the crowd for attending the event whose proceeds will be used to renovate schools in Kampala.
At around 11:00PM, Diamond Platnumz stepped on stage with his entire band amidst cheers from the crowd.
Although his performance was not as energetic as many expected, the Wasafi Records singer put up a good show as he sang his hit songs like “Salome”, “Kidogo”, ” Zigo” and the recent “Hallelujah” ft Morgan Heritage among others.
The concert ended at Midnight.
