Comedian Alex Muhangi’s weekly comedy entertainment show, Comedy Store has moved its venue from The 400 Bar and Restaurant in Bukoto which has been its for the last few months to UMA Exhibition Hall in Lugogo, Kampala.
The show started from Diners Lounge in Bukoto, where it where it was one and a half years, before moving to The 400 Bar in October 2017.
In a press statement, the Management of Comedy Store explained why they had to move from The 400 Bar and Restaurant to UMA Hall.
“The circumstances that prompted us to move the show were unprecedented and beyond our making. Central to these circumstances were the continued disruptions by city authorities over what they called noise pollution to residents in the neighborhood. They further said that the show was contravening with the mandatory timelines for night events,” the statement reads in part.
“It’s upon this background that as Management of Comedy Store, we came to the realization that it was no longer possible to hold shows at the 400 without interruptions. Both parties (Comedy Store and 400) agreed that it was in their own best interests to deal with this challenge,” it adds.
According to Management, UMA Exhibition Hall is an indoor venue and thus won’t go against the KCCA regulations that guide entertainment events.
“UMA Hall is spacious, has ample parking along with a bar and restaurant to serve our audience. We commit to deliver the same unbeatable comedy and music entertainment that you have always known Comedy Store for. We hope you bear with us,” the statement also reads.
Comedy Store will launch its first show in 2018 at the new home at UMA Hall on Thursday (January 25, 2018), featuring popular Kenyan singer Nameless, comedians; MC Mariachi, Amooti, Madrat & Chiko, Snake & Zoro and Senga Justine Nantume among others.
