Reporters have threatened to boycott all events organized by the Buganda Kingdom and Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi over brutality and harsh treatment accorded to them by the UPDF Royal guards.
Buganda Kingdom is holding a series of events that will mark the Kabaka’s 63rd birthday. Celebrations are slated to take place in Masaka.
But Journalists say they will not cover any more events if the Kabaka’s guards are not tamed.
On Sunday, the UPDF guards were caught on camera beating up and harassing journalists at the Kabaka’s birthday run, an act that was castigated by many media professionals around the country.
In the first attempt, reporters yesterday walked out on the Kingdom Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga during a press conference to express their dissatisfaction with the treatment they get.
The Kingdom is yet to comment on the issue.
