Uganda Commonwealth Games Team Returns Home to Heroes’ Welcome

The team that represented Uganda at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia was on Thursday afternoon given a heroes’ welcome as they returned to the country.

The team that touched down at Entebbe at around 1:00PM was welcomed by the first lady also minister of Education and Sports Mrs Janet Kataha Museveni, Uganda Police Police and other officials.

“Welcome home, we celebrate what you have done, we salute you but mostly we thank our God because he was with you and now you have opened the eyes of Ugandans,” said the First Lady.

“On behalf of the president, Ugandans, Government and the ministry of Education we welcome you with so much pride,” she added.

Mrs Museveni also applauded the team for being disciplined and hard working.

Gold medalist Joshua cheptegei in his remarks has thanked his teammates for the great performance they put up.

“I feel very happy returning home as a hero,” said Cheptegie, whose wife and baby were also present.

Uganda was represented by 69 players.
