MPs Storm Makindye Barracks, Demand to See Bobi Wine

Members of parliament have Friday afternoon stormed Makindye military barracks in Kampala demanding to visit jailed Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine.

The team led by Leader of Opposition Betty Aol Ochan reached the barracks a few minutes to midday but were denied entry to the barracks.

Bobi Wine was transferred to Makindye from Gulu where he was charged with treason and unlawful possession of military ammunition and remanded.

Only two people; Busiro South MP Asuman Basalirwa and Lawyer Medard Ssegona were allowed into the court room.

Earlier today, Bobi Wine’s family and lawyers were denied access to him with the military allowing only his wife Barbra Itungo, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and the chairperson of the Human Rights Commission to see him.

UPDF Speaks Out

In a statement released on Friday morning, UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire assured the public that Bobi Wine was fine and receiving adequate attention and care.

He said that arrangements would be made for his family to visit and see him as they take care of him.
