Ugandan musician, activist and Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine is set to address a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington DC on Thursday (6 September, 2018).
Examining the case with Bobi will be his international lawyer Robert Amsterdam.
The press conference is expected to be covered by a number of International media houses.
“Am going to hold International Press Conference in Washington DC today and my international lawyer Robert Amsterdam at 10:00 EST and 17:00 local Kampala time. I will be addressing my current condition after suffering torture and abuse at the hands of Ugandan security officers after the August 14th arrest and the treason charges which followed and many more,” Bobi Wine said on Facebook.
“”Media houses including Al-Jazeera, BBC,CNN, ABC, Fox News, Times, Sun, Guardian and others will broadcast this Press conference Live,” he added.
This comes a few days after Bobi Wine flew to the USA for treatment following injuries he sustained when he was brutally arrested and allegedly tortured following a scuffle with Security forces in Arua three weeks ago. The scuffle left his driver Yasin Kawuma dead.
The 36-year-old Kyadondo East MP was charged with Treason in Gulu together with 33 others but later released on bail.
