Fired Makerere University researcher Dr. Stella Nyanzi has said that she suffered a miscarriage while in detention in Luzira Prison.

Dr. Nyanzi said this on Wednesday while appearing before High Court Justice Lydia Mugambe for the hearing of her case she filed against Makerere University for refusing to reinstate her on her job.

Looking fragile, with a shaved head and a cannula on her left hand, Dr. Nyanzi informed court that she lost her baby after her blood pressure rose too high.

The researcher has been under incarceration since her arrest on November 2nd 2018. She had gone to a police station to inform them of a protest she was planning to hold at the University.

She is facing charges of cyber harassment and offensive communication contrary to the Computer Misuse Act.
