Mbarara HS Head Master Benon Twinomujuni Released on Bail

High Court Anti-Corruption Division has Wednesday granted bail to Benon Twinomujuni, the Head Master of Mbarara High School and Michael Namara the bursar of the same.

The two were arrested on charges of embezzlement, causing financial loss and abuse of office straddling from the loss of Shs 200million which was meant for School Activities for the year 2018.

According to office of the Inspector General of Government, the tip that led to the arrest of the two was given by a whistleblower.

The duo which appeared before Chief Magistrate Pamela Lamunu denied the charges preferred against them.

Prosecution alleges that Twinomujuni and Namara approved the withdraw of Shs 207,450,000 without any supporting documents and accountability.

Chief Magistrate released the duo on a cash bail of Shs 10million each and their five sureties ordered to execute a non-cash bond of 80 million shillings.

They will return to to court on February 18th for mention of their case and to set a hearing.
