Chelsea Appoints Frank Lampard as New Manager

Chelsea FC has appointed former midfielder Frank Lampard as the new team manager, The Tower Post reports.

Lampard, 41, who has been handed a 3-year deal replaces Maurizio Sarri who recently left Chelsea for Juventus.

Prior to today, the strong footed midfielder was taking care of English Championship side, Derby County.

During his stint, he led Derby County to a Championship play-off final, where they lost to Aston Villa, in his first season as a manager.

During his player career, the former England international made 648 Chelsea appearances, winning 11 major trophies with them.

He takes over with Chelsea under a transfer embargo after the club were given a two-window transfer ban by world governing body Fifa – a decision they are appealing against at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
