Opposition kingpin Dr Kizza Besigye went live on Facebook at a funeral service in Wakiso as police searched vehicles on Rubirizi-Kasese Road for him Wednesday.
A group of police officers laid barricades on the road, searching vehicles, including those carrying tourists.
On Tuesday, Besigye beat police surveillance to attend the inauguration in Bundibugyo of Rwenzori Regional Assembly of People’s Government.
Besigye would later leave Bundibugyo for Wakiso.
On Wednesday, he attended the funeral service of Mzee Christopher Kamya Katumwa, his friend, in Masooli, Kasangati, Wakiso district.
But a team comprising members of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and People’s Government, including party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi, and Women’s League Chairperson Ingrid Turinawe, stayed.
Today, Amuriat and Turinawe, also secretary for mobilization, had planned to meet FDC leaders in Rubirizi and to commiserate with the people of Kyambura, a place where fuel tanker accident claimed tens of lives.
But police blocked the duo and other party officials at Katunguru.
