TECNO Mobile Uganda is set to have it’s second edition of the mini Marathon dubbed “Heroes in Color Run 2019” on Saturday 7th September 2019. Heroes in Color Run is organized to raise funds for a noble cause under the TECNO CSR umbrella.
The Heroes in Color Run is an annual corporate social Responsibility (CSR) by TECNO Mobile Uganda in partnership with other companies, general public and stakeholders to raise awareness of a critical social problem that needs collective attention to avert this problem and this year the focus is raising funds to purchase computers, printers and other items for secondary schools in Mukono District in a bid to digitalize the future of these students.
This year’s Heroes in Color Run is bigger and better and in a better venue at Lugogo Cricket Oval. TECNO has partnered with big brands like MTN, Startimes and Bell to make the dreams of these students come true.
The event is a family fun filled day which starts with a mini Marathon of 5km and later followed with lots of fun activities like kwepena, board games, dancing and singing competition, face painting, bouncing castles for kids to mention but a few. The Tickets go for 15,000 adults, 10,000 kids and adults and Kids go for 20,000 only.
Last year the focus was on maintaining a girl child in school by purchasing re-usable sanitary pads for the girl child in Kamuli and this year the focus is on digitalizing secondary schools in Mukono by purchasing computers, printers, data and free computer training services to ease learning of the students in the selected schools in Mukono.
“At TECNO, we not only mind about producing the best smartphones but we care and are committed to serving our customers to have the best phone experience but also mindful about social problems affecting us. Heroes in Color Run is our annual event where we gather for a common cause as we have fun together. We also use Heroes in Color run as an awareness platform for societal issues that need our attention and collective effort. We therefore come together to raise funds to avert these issues in question.
Last year we helped the girl child in Kamuli by providing free re-usable sanitary pads and scholastic material as a way to keep them in school and we want to thank everyone who participated in last year’s Heroes in Color run to put a smile on these girls. This year we are running to digitalize the future through purchasing computers, printers and other related items for secondary schools in Mukono district and all this will be from the proceeds from the charity run we have organized. We therefore encourage everyone to join us to make this dream come true” Explained TECNO country managing director, Mr. Carter.
This year’s Heroes in Color Run theme is “Digitalizing secondary schools” and it is slated for 7th September at Lugogo Cricket Oval. Gates open at 8am and the mini marathon starts at 10am which will be followed by many games, entertainment and performances from some of the top Ugandan artists like Jose Chameleon, Spice Diana, Grenade Official, Nina Roz, DJ Shiru and many more other surprise acts.
“Heroes in Color Run is not just any other event on the Ugandan Calendar, it is a charity event to change our society through collective effort. As a technology brand that has been here for close to 11 years, we understand the importance of technology and we want to spread this further to our customers. It’s always a good opportunity for us to take off time from our busy schedules to meet our each other as we make a difference in the lives of those that need our support.
You will agree with me that today computer knowledge is fundamental and therefore we want to uphold this. We further believe the world will be a place if we all of us had these skills. It’s the reason why we keep advancing the Technology every time we release a new device and this is the same sentiment we want to share with our customers. Not only that but the world is growing so fast and to be at par with the world’s advancement, Technology is a key thing everyone we should embrace thus the reason we chose this year’s CSR cause.” Said TECNO country manager Mr. Carter Tang
“At TECNO, we are very proud of this initiative because it’s directly in line with UCC’s vision to drive the development of a robust communications sector in Uganda and Computer literacy as one of their ways to do drive development. We encourage the beneficiaries of this initiative to embrace it and utilize it as much as possible. Computer literacy is nowadays something very important in the workplace or even in the general life because the world is getting computerized at a very fast rate and those without computer knowledge will be at a disadvantage. For example lately banks, hospitals, schools, supermarkets to mention but a few are computerized and this is something that affects anyone who is computer illiterate and for students, it’s more crucial than before because this will quicken their learning pace and broaden their knowledge base thus eradicating this computer illiteracy pandemic.” Concluded Mr. Carter.
