President, Museveni Orders for Immediate Release of Idle and Disorderly Offenders

Being idle and disorderly is not a crime, the President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni has said. As such, Museveni has directed the police to release all people who are in jail over the ‘crime’. In a statement addressed to police, Museveni says prosecution against these people should also be discontinued. And no further arrests made.

The President has also pardoned the people arrested for selling merchandise on pavements by Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

He has however warned that no one should sell goods on pavements.

It is the second time Museveni is ordering for the release of idle and disorderly offenders. The president made the first order in 2016 while addressing his supporters at Kazo grounds in the new Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.
