Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that over 5000 police recruits are receiving three months military training in Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi. The training is tailored to equip them with skills in handling paramilitary situations.
“Tough times usually come up abruptly and to handle such tasks in areas like Karamoja and swampy areas, police officers need to be prepared. That’s why we are giving them this training.”
Word has been circulating that there is heavy deployment of military personnel in Masindi district at Kabalye, and that the military had taken over the training school.
Enanga dismissed the claims.
“Army officers were invited to conduct military training for the recently recruited 4500 Probation Police Constables (PPCs) and 500 Learner Assistant Inspector of Police (LAIPs).”
