Former Works and Transport Minister Engineer Monica Azuba has said she requested the President to drop her from her position as Minister. She made the remarks on December 18 as she handed over her office to Gen. Katumba Wamala who was appointed by the President last week to fill the seat.
In her speech, Azuba said, “I had a conversation with the president who Okayed my going”. She added that she has achieved many milestones during her time at the office which includes the re-launch of Uganda Airlines.
Azuba was appointed Senior Presidential Advisor. And she says she is starting her work immediately. She, however, revealed she has another personal assignment which influenced her decision to request for a change.
Gen. Katumba formerly served as the deputy minister in the same office. He thanked Hon. Azuba for creating a homely working environment.
“I am ready to work with the team and we take this sector to a higher level,” he said.
Katumba pledged his commitment.
