40 people who were arrested in Kasangati while protesting the arrest of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament have been slapped with charges of unlawful assembly by the police.

Many were arrested including Kyagulanyi, Asuman Basalirwa, Joel Senyonyi, Latif  Sebagala and several big wigs in the People Power unit.

Although Kyagulanyi’s consultative meeting in Gulu was stopped by police, he was not going to attend physically as he said he had to first ensure that the people who were arrested released.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, the MPs and two others were released on police bond.

The rest of the suspects are still in police custody pending their appearance in court.
