MP Ssekikubo Murder Case Reopened

MP Ssekikubo is in a spot of bother. Police in Masaka wiped the dust from an old murder charge sheet in which the Lwemiyaga County MP is accused.

The MP allegedly shot a security officer named Habibu Nsamba during the NRM primaries in 2010.

Ssekikubo was arrested last week (Friday) for reportedly inciting violence and causing damage to property in Lwemiyaga.

The complainant in the matter is Sembabule District police commander Denis Musinguzi. The case had earlier been withdrawn after the complainant lacked enough evidence to implicate Ssekikubo.

The MP led a group of herdsmen into Lwemiyaga cattle market to go about their business yet police had closed the market over a reported outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the area. Ssekikubo disagreed with the police and veterinary officers saying that his constituency was free of the said disease. Other products like milk and ghee were still being sold yet cattle was stopped, something that caused Ssekikubo to riot.
