The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has on Friday released results for pupils who sat Primary Leaving Examinations.
The board Executive Secretary Dan Odongo has said that 69,243 (10.1 percent) of the pupils who sat last year’s Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) passed in division one while 318,155 candidates scored a second division and 140,420 passed in third division.
He said that there is an improvement in the performance in comparison with 2018.
Out of the 695,804 candidates 336,040 (48.3) were boys and 359,764 (51.7) girls.
A total of 617,150 (90.4%) passed the exams.
The board chairperson, Mary Okwakol said that the number of stdudents enrolling in school and sitting for PLE has increased. And this she said is thanks to the Universal Primary Education system. 68.2% of the candidates who sat PLE were beneficiaries of UPE.
