Eng Godfrey Mutabazi who has been the Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission has left the institution. This is after a directive by Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Judith Nabakooba asking him to hand over the office.
Nabakooba sent her directive through the chairperson of the Board at UCC relaying that Mutabazi’s contract has ended and that he should hand over to avoid a situation of unlawful stay in office without a formal contract.
Mutabazi has been at the helm of UCC for the past 10 years. Today Friday 7th February is his last day in office.
It can be recalled that the Board of UCC wrote to the former ICT Minister Frank Tumwebaze in 2019 recommending that his contract is renewed.
Mutabazi has been replaced by Irene Kaggwa, according to information on our desk.
