Rema Namakula and her husband Hamza Sebunya have on Wednesday been named brand ambassadors for the Mengo Rotary Blood Bank.

The two were unveiled at a press conference held at the Kampala Serena Hotel. At the same presser, Mengo Rotary Blood Bank announced that they are seeking over 360million to purchase a modern ultra-modern blood processing equipment.

A fundraising dinner will be held to that effect which Sebuya will headline. Sebunya expressed gratitude for being chosen for the cause.

“My wife and I have come on board and we shall fully advocate for this Program until completion. We shall be proud when the gap of 100,000 units of blood is closed,” he said.

“With my medical background, I know what people go through because of blood stockout. What is common in our country is postpartum haemorrhage and it causes 25 % of all maternal deaths. These are very high figures for our country,” he added.

He said he was ready to do the sensitization about the blood crisis.

Rema also said she was grateful to be identified and promised to deliver what is expected of her.
