Police, UPDF Deny Responsibility for People Power Supporter Killed in Nansana

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) and Police have distanced themselves from a case where a man was shot dead on Tuesday evening in Nansana, Masitowa stage.

The man who has been identified as Daniel Kyeyune was allegedly shot by a local defense officer during a scuffle.

Kyeyune and many others had lined up along the road to catch sight of Bobi Wine who was returning from Ritah Nabukenya’s funeral in Kiboga district.

Maj.Bilal Katamba, the LDU spokesperson said Kyeyune was not shot by an LDU officer.

“It is not true. Our LDU officers have not shot anyone in Nansana,” Maj Katamba revealed.

Katamba said the matter is being investigated by police.

“Police in Nasana has registered an incident of murder by shooting around Masitowa, Nansana and a hit and run accident involving our officer this evening The motive of the shooting is not yet established. However, the body of the victim has been taken to city mortuary Mulago,” police revealed on Tuesday.

Police says have taken care of burial expenses, the deceased was a son to a police office, David Kabuye.
