Kyambogo University Guild elections will not happen today (March 10, 2020) as earlier scheduled, according to communication from the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Eli Katunguka.
Prof Katunguka says there has been a delay in procuring the ballot papers hence the postponement.
He reveals in a statement that the company that was contracted with the job to print the ballot papers wrote to them saying it would not meet the deadline.
March 17, 2020 has been set as the new date for the elections.
Katunguka asked the students to remain calm as the Electoral Commission reorganizes the election roadmap.
“I want to use this opportunity to urge the Electoral Commission to adhere to the electoral guidelines, remain independent, impartial and transparent in your undertakings for you to deliver a smooth and credible election. “he said.
The race has nine candidates. They are; Trust Nduwayo Mugisha (Democratic Party) , Jonathan Tayebwa (National Resistance Movement), John Mbaziira (People power) and Colline Kigaye, Daniel Markmot (Alliance for National Transformation) and independent candidates, Onai Emmanuel Peter, Julius Ssuubi Ceasor, Sharifu Mugenyi, and David Ochola.
