Uganda has confirmed her first case of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Health has announced.
According to the Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng, the patient arrived in Uganda on Saturday aboard the Ethiopian Airlines. The patient is a Ugandan male, aged 36. He travelled to Dubai on 17, March 2020 for business.
“The patient was not coughing, neither was he sneezing but he had a fever. It was the fever that bred suspicion. We isolated him and took different samples of him and they all tested positive,” Aceng told the media
The patient is currently under isolation at Entebbe Grade B hospital. He was not allowed to meet his family. The patient is a resident of Kibuli.
According to Aceng, the rest of the people who were with him on board have been quarantined.
