Coronavirus: MPs Who Recently Returned from Dubai Restricted from Accessing Parliament

On Sunday, the Minister for Health Dr. Ruth Aceng appealed to Ugandans who recently returned from Dubai or the United Arab Emirates to report to the Ministry for screening. This was after Uganda confirmed nine cases of coronavirus. All the patients had recently traveled from Dubai.

In light of the precautions, the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda Rt.Hon Alitwala Kadaga ordered 3 legislators and 2 staff members to stay away from the precincts of parliament.

The members of parliament ordered are Hon. Ssekitoleko Kafeero member of parliament Nakifuma Constituency, Hon. Cissy Namujju Lwengo Mp and Hon. Ssempala Kigozi member of parliament for Makindye Ssabagabo.

During plenary, legislators raised concerns regarding the toll-free numbers issued by the Ministry saying that they were not responding to the calls.

Kadaga asked members to record (audio and video) messages on Covid-19 in their respective local languages to sensitize and educate their constituents.
