Bunyangabu District chairman, James Ategeka who is accused of slapping the Resident District Commissioner of the same district Jane Asiimwe has been released on a Shs 1 million non-cash bail, and Shs 1 million non-cash bond for each of his sureties
The RDC and district chairman crossed paths while the former was enforcing the presidential directives. Ategeka was found driving a government car and stopped by the RDC and his team. Ategeka was agitated for being flagged down and threw a flurry of unsavoury words plus a slap at the RDC.
He was as a result charged with assault.
On Wednesday Ategeka appeared in Fort Portal Magistrate’s Court where he denied the charges and asked the Grade II Magistrate, Nathan MuliNdwa to release him on bail.
His request was granted.
Ategeka will return to court on April 28, 2020, for further mention of the case.
