Six More People Recover from Covid-19

The number of people who have fully recovered from COVID-19 has risen to 28 as six more people have been discharged from Mulago hospital.

The six were discharged on Sunday.

“Today, six patients have been discharged from Mulago National Specialised Hospital after testing negatives twice for COVID-19. Total COVID-19 recoveries now stand at 28,” the Ministry of Health announced in a tweet.

The six included two Chinese nationals who have been handed to their embassy. Uganda now has only 27 active cases. And no deaths. The total of confirmed cases is 55.

According to Health Minister, Dr Ruth Aceng, the numbers have been kept low due to the lockdown

“The lockdown reduced pressure on the surveillance system and the health system by keeping the numbers low because the country must maintain the low numbers and low rates of infection,” Minister Aceng said during her address to the nation on Saturday.

“When the numbers of exposed and infected individuals grow so fast, the stress on the system is huge and the system cannot hope with it,” Aceng said.
