Over 400 People Arrested For Defying COVID-19 Directives

 A total of 480 people have been thrown behind bars for defying the Presidential directives on Covid-19. These were arrested during a security operation by the joint task force. According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the suspects were arrested in areas of Nakulabye, Kasubi, Namungona, Kawempe, Maganjo, Nansana, Masitowa, Lubigi, Kisasi, Kyanja, Mutungo, Banda, Kireka and Kinawataka

The suspects were caught drinking, walking past curfew time and operating shops.

“The suspects are currently detained at different Police Stations in Kampala Metropolitan Policing area as we investigate allegations of being in possession of suspected narcotics, disobedience of lawful orders and Doing a negligent act likely to cause an infection of disease,” Onyango said.

The operation was led by the Commander of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Moses Kafeero.
