Covid19 Task Force Wants Museveni to Lift Lockdown, Ease on Other Preventive Guidelines

The Covid19 taskforce wants President Museveni to lift the lockdown, and ease on other preventative guidelines, the TowerPost has learnt. The President is in talks with the Covid taskforce and will address the nation after the 21 days to announce a way forward. The task force wants the President to restore some semblance of normalcy but in steps.

The task force, according to sources, wants public transport to be allowed to return on the road. Taxis, in the new plan, will be allowed to carry only 9 passengers instead of 14. Buses will have to operate at half capacity while boda bodas will only be allowed to carry one passenger. The passenger will be required to wear a face mask while the rider will be required a helmet.

According to the information we gather, offices will also be allowed to resume but employees will have to work in shifts. The taskforce wants employers to split their employees into teams; if one team works one work, other returns for another week. The teams will work interchangeably and they will have to keep a distance from each other.

Private transport will be allowed but only three people will be allowed, including the driver.

According to what we gather, only boarding schools will resume as the situation is being monitored. School teachers and staff will be asked to stay within the school premises for a period of time.

Bars, entertainment centres will not be allowed to open for a period of time. This will also apply to churches, mosques and other such places.

The curfew will, however, continue, albeit from 10pm to 6am.

The suggestions are still a subject of discussion. The President will observe them with his cabinet before making an official announcement.
